I had a class with an astronaut
I really enjoyed what he taught
He went into space
He thought he saw an alien face
Oops just ice, a problem it was not (My limerick to celebrate Limerick Day)
My mom signed me up for a class with an astronaut. I was really scared because I thought I would have to talk to him in front of many people. But my mom said, that he would just be talking to the class. Oops I overreact. -_-
It was actually really fun. The astronaut's name is Leland Melvin. He talked about when he was a kid he wanted to be a tennis player. He said he first became a scientist when he got a chemistry set when he was in the 5th grade. He didn't follow the instructions and burned a hole in his mom's carpet. He got in trouble but it also made him curious about science. He said to try different things to find what you're really passionate about.
He also talked about how the space program didn't just help us learn about space. There are a lot of things that we use that come from what they learned from the space program.
He also talked about how today's astronauts are passing on the responsibility of learning more about space to my generation. He listed questions that we will have to answer.
After his talk he answered some questions that people submitted. One question asked if he ever did see an alien. He said he thought he saw an alien but it was actually just ice that was on the space shuttle.
The whole class was recorded and posted on YouTube. I watched it again because I thought it was fun.
