I'm glad teachers and the schools are going to get more time to prepare. But I was hoping the Board of Education would also say that we should start the school year doing distance learning. They said they were still going to leave that to each school to decide so that means on August 17 I'm going to be going back to the classroom because that's what Manoa School is choosing to do. That's kinda scary, especially since there were 124 new coronavirus cases today.
Ms. Carr had suggested I write to our school principal to let him know what I think. That's kinda scary. But my mom shared with me a quote from John Lewis that she heard today during his funeral.
"Do not get lost in a sea of despair. Be hopeful, be optimistic. Our struggle is not the struggle of a day, a week, a month or a year, it is the struggle of a lifetime. Never, ever be afraid to make some noise and get in good trouble, necessary trouble."

I know John Lewis was fighting for bigger things. But this quote makes me think that maybe sometimes it's ok to tell someone you have a different opinion.
