We took another ride around the island today. Did our usual path through Kaneohe, out towards Kaaawa, around Kahuku, past the North Shore and through Haleiwa. But this time my mom decided we'd try and explore out towards Mokuleia.
My mom said her family used to drive out Mokuleia every summer because my aunty would have Easter Seals summer camp at Camp Mokuleia.
It was an interesting drive out there. Pretty different from town. Houses were really far apart.
There was a big airfield nearby. I learned that they do a lot of skydiving out there.
We kept driving to see what else was down the road.
My dad was really surprised how close we were to the mountain range. We passed by something called Camp Erdman. It had this really cool obstacle course looking thing. It was really big so I don't think I'd want to do it. Found a video of people using the course.
We kept driving and ended up at the end of the road. We reached the end of the island!!! We reached a place called Kaena Point. Seemed so far away from everything but there were a lot of people out there. We didn't like that there were a lot of bushes between where you park your car and the beach. My parents don't like not being able to see the car when we go out to the beach.
It was cool to see another part of the island I'd never been to before. I hope we get to explore again soon.
