Happy Bastille Day! In France, it's called Fête Nationale or le quatorze juliet (the 14th of July).

Bastille Day is like the 4th of July in the United States. The French celebrate their freedom on July 14th. The Bastille was a prison in France. On July 14, 1789, the French attacked the Bastille because it was a symbol of the king's harsh rule. This started the French Revolution. Here's a short video about Bastille Day.
They usually have a large parade down a street called the Champs Elysees. This year they had a smaller ceremony honoring the "heroes of the pandemic" like ambulance drivers, hospital workers, supermarket cashiers and postal workers.

They did do their big fireworks show at the Eiffel Tower, but this year people were only allowed to view it from certain places. Found two YouTube clips of the show. It's 30 minutes long!
Google even celebrated Bastille Day. When you did a search today, little fireworks flashed across your screen.
