When I was 3 years old, I used to think that Easter Island was an island full of bunnies.
Today, I learned some real facts about Easter Island.

We did a virtual tour of Easter Island. The famous statues on Easter Island are called Moai. They are sacred to the people of Rapa Nui and they believe it is a source of mana (power).
Many of the statues are close to the ocean. Because of climate change and the rise of the sea levels, there is a possibility that they might erode. Damaging the moai would be bad because it is an important part of the culture of the people of Rapa Nui. If the moai disappear, there would also be less tourists which would mean people in tourism businesses would lost their jobs.

You keep giving me such great ideas for class trips! Maybe one week we'll go to different parts of the Polynesian Triangle... Keep up the amazing blogging :)
