Today was my first day of 5th grade. My mom and I drove to the school's office parking lot to pick up my 5th grade school books at 8am this morning. Ms. Mitsuda handed us our pile of stuff and I waved to all the teachers standing outside.
Then we rushed home to set up for my 10am virtual class.

So our class is divided into 4 groups of 4. Each group is taking turns picking up stuff and meeting this week. Today was my group's turn. Looks like my "bubble" is the robotics team even though the people in my group apparently aren't on my team. I'm still a team of 1. Sad....
I logged on 15 minutes early to make sure everything worked. I did the same set up I did for 4th grade. I logged into Google meet with my mom's phone and opened my laptop to look at the classroom. For some reason, my camera wouldn't turn on. And then I couldn't see the shared screen. I found out no one could see the shared screen so I stopped panicking about that. I just couldn't get my camera to work. I didn't want to miss any part of the class so I ended up just using the chat when we had to hold up our dry erase boards. My mom and I test the phone afterwards and the camera worked when we did a Google Meet with each other so I don't know what happened with that.

We have Padlets and Flipgrids like last year. I've got to finish my iReady assessments this week. Yay! (sarcasm) Looks like we're going to be learning about Native Americans. We had to write on the Padlet what we knew about Native Americans. I wrote about my friend's report in 4th grade about Sacagewea. We're also starting to read a book called The Legend of Jimmy Spoon.
The first day wasn't so bad other than the technical problems. I do miss seeing all my friends. Hopefully I'll be able to keep in touch with them somehow.
