Ms. Carr made today Honorary Carnivorous Plant Day for our classmate Nainoa. It's his birthday and his project has been about carnivorous plants. On his website one of his suggestions on how to celebrate today is to draw a picture of a carnivorous plant. So here's my drawing.

It's a pitcher plant. Bugs slip into the liquid that's in the pitcher part of the plant. Because the walls of the plant are slippery the bugs can't get out. I learned that it's called a pitfall trap.
I also looked online to see if there really is a Carnivorous Plant day. I did find one website by the Carnivorous Plant Society that said that they voted to make April 2nd National Carnivorous Plant day. April 2nd is the birthday of Arthur Dobbs. He is the first person who wrote about the Venus Flytrap.
I also found an article that said Hawaii has a native carnivorous plant. It's a type of sundew that's found on Kauai.

Hi Nainoa. I don't know if I have a favorite. I think they're all pretty cool. I like the pitcher plant but I wouldn't say it's my favorite.
Thank you for doing this. What’s ur favorite carnivorous plant? Mine is offcourse the sundew (drosera). There are different species (varieties) of sundews. The native one is drowers anglica witch only grows natraly on Kauai. It’s not rare but it’s considered endanger to Hawaiians. It grows in other places and in those places it’s not rare but it’s rare to see it in hawaii. The Hawaiians called it mikinalo.
