Hoping to reach Antarctica

My mom and I spent some of the day researching how we could get someone in Antarctica to click on our class newspaper. Our class is hoping our newspaper reaches all seven continents. I think Antarctica would be the hardest to reach. But I wanted to give it a try. We found something called the United States Antarctic Program. We clicked around and found an email for their media person. We also found that they have a newspaper and sent them an email too. Crossing my fingers we get a click!

The websites are pretty cool. The newspaper site had a nice list of interesting facts about Antarctica.
The USAP site has live cams!

This is kinda creepy looking. Nothing's really happening. Just some red lights. But maybe if I did see something moving around, that might be even more scary?!?!
Ok this webcam didn't look so creepy. It actually looks like a normal city.

The also have a webcam for Adelie penguins. But it's only live during breeding season from October to February. Sad I couldn't see it tonight. Will have to come back to this page in October.

I also watched a video on the website about an underwater robot named ARTEMIS. (Reviewing my mythology lesson here. Artemis = goddess of hunting and the moon.) It's exploring the Antarctic Ocean but it's also being used to see if it can be used to explore an icy moon around Jupiter called Europa. (Hmm... maybe this is why it's call ARTEMIS?)

(Before I forget, I'm making myself a note here to watch the Space X launch on Wednesday.) This reminded me of an article I read in Time for Kids a couple of years ago about a Tesla in Space.
