I wouldn't consider myself a dancer. At my preschool, I did take hula classes. I also took hula and hip hop during the summers. For a little while, I was even taking ballroom dance. My favorite was the bachata. I wish I could take lessons again but my teacher moved to the mainland and my mom says it's expensive. She said maybe we can try again later. Right now, the most dancing I do is Zumba and Just Dance on the Wii Switch.
For International Dance Day, we went to the official website.

We saw a few links to dances about dancing from home. This lady from New Zealand had a video that was pretty fun and simple.

This video from South Korea was really cool. It had a lot of different dancers dancing by themselves. I really liked this part where the guy was dancing in a playground.

These gave us an idea to look up how people are still dancing while social distancing. We found a lot of examples. We found this cute video of a grandpa and his granddaughter dancing while social distancing.

This Washington DC neighborhood has been hosting social distance dance parties. There's some funny guy dancing around in a blue dress.

This Detroit family has been practicing ballroom dance while social distancing. They said ballroom dancing but it didn't look like ballroom dancing to me. But they looked like they were having fun.

This whole neighborhood in Dublin, Ireland had a social distancing dance.

In Wisconsin, the song "Jump Around" is played at University of Wisconsin-Madison football games and everyone gets up and jumps around. People all over Wisconsin are now using the song to jump around together every Saturday afternoon. Here's a link to an article that explains it. And here's a link to some video.

We also found video of a doctor who is making TikTok videos to try and make people smile. Good Morning America did an interview with him and he said he did the videos hoping that it would connect with people through dance and raise awareness.

So I guess that's kind of the point of International Dance Day. It's suppose to celebrate how dance brings people together. Even though there were videos of people who dance really well, there were a lot of people who were just kinda ok. But dancing made them happy. Kinda like my brother. He dances really crazy when he does Just Dance but he it makes him happy.
