On November 4, 1922, British archeologist Howard Carter discovered the tomb of King Tutankhamun in Egypt. The tomb had been untouched for almost 3 thousand years.

According to CBC Kids, he was also know as the Boy King. He became a pharaoh when he was nine years old. He was the ruler of Egypt for 10 years and died when he was 18.
The archaeologists found 5,398 items buried with King Tut. His coffin was made out of gold.
The San Jose Public Library has a nice list of things to do to celebrate King Tut day. They have some suggestions on books about King Tut.
I liked their suggestion to learn about Egyptian art.
