Ms. Carr's reasons to celebrate listed two things today. National Underground America Day and Dance Like a Chicken Day.
The person who started Underground America Day was Malcolm Wells. He was an architect who designed buildings that were built into the ground. I was thinking these were completely underground like subway tunnels but after we did some searching on the internet we found that they weren't fully underground. On malcolmwells.com we saw some pictures and the houses looked more like the ground covered the house.
We did a search using the phrase "earth-sheltered" to try and find more pictures and found a website that showed some interesting buildings.
I don't have much to say about the Chicken Dance. I learned it in 2nd grade in Ms. Aipa's class. We used to do it at the end of the day. This is the video we used to dance to.
My mom signed me up for another free online class. This one started at 7:30 this morning. It was about neuroscience. REALLY mom?!?!? Neuroscience at 7:30 in the morning?!?! It was actually pretty interesting. The class was supposed to be for 5th through 10th graders. The teacher was an actress who was on the TV show The Big Bang Theory. (I like watching The Big Bang Theory with my parents.) She actually taught neuroscience in college.
A couple of things I learned. Neuroscience is the study of the brain and the nervous system. There are four lobes of the brain that control different things. I also learned that learning about the brain gives me the heebeegeebees. :P

After that class I watched a class about Greek mythology. That was pretty cool too. Today we talked about more gods and monsters. A couple of things I learned.
Fluffy in Harry Potter is based on the Greek monster called Cererbus who was a guardian of Hades.
I also learned the answer to The Riddle of the Sphinx.
