This is an awesome thing to celebrate! National Chocolate Cupcake Day!

NationalToday.com, says the recipe for chocolate cupcakes were first found in a cookbook called American Cookery in 1796.

When I was younger, I used to make cupcakes with my grandma for my birthday. I think we made chocolate a couple of times but most of the time we used a yellow cake mix from a box. But they all tasted really good!

When we got to Costco, we always buy their chocolate muffins. I wondered what the difference was between a cupcake and a muffin. I thought it was just my mom's way of trying to make a cupcake sound healthier so she could feed it to us for breakfast. But I looked it up and there actually is a difference.

According to thekitchn.com, the difference is how it's made. The website says the difference is in their mixing method and composition.

Cupcake batter is beaten longer. It has more sugar and fat. Most times they include frosting.

For muffins, you mix the dry ingredients and the wet ingredients separately and then gently put them together. Muffins will more likely have less sugar and more fruits and grains.
