National Grouch Day

According to Sesame Street Magazine, October 15 is National Grouch Day. This sounds like a day for me. :) According to the Muppet Wiki, it's a day for all grouches to celebrate their way of life.

Checkiday.com, gives some other words to say grouchy. Irritable. Cranky. Pessimistic. Miserable. Ok, maybe I'm not that bad. I am a little cranky in the morning. It says that the day was started by a retired teacher in Michigan.

According to National Today, also honors the world's favorite grouch, Oscar the Grouch from Sesame Street. Oscar first showed up on Sesame Street in 1969. According to the Muppet Wiki, Jim Henson, the creator of the Muppets and Jon Stone, a writer, had lunch at a restaurant where the waiter was so rude they actually found it funny. They based Oscar on that waiter.

It made me wonder what other famous grouches there are. Here are a couple that I could think of.

Grumpy - From Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. This dwarf is the grumpy one, like his name says. But I think he was actually nice and he didn't want to show it.

Eeyore - Winnie the Pooh's donkey friend. I've always felt sorry for him. He seemed more sad than grouchy to me though.

What other grouches can you think of?
