National Voter Registration Day was first observed in 2012. The goal of this day is to help as many people register to vote. According to NationalVoterRegistrationDay.org, millions of people don't vote because they miss a deadline or aren't sure how to register.

Because everyone has to social distance this year, a lot voter registration day activities were online. The National Voter Registration Day website had a bunch of social media images and posters people could download and share.
A New York Times article said that this year, there would be more livestreamed events, YouTube videos and texting campaigns. Organizations would have to be more creative this year.
Rock the Vote is actually a campaign that's older than National Voter Registration Day. It was started in 1990 by music executives. It worked with MTV to get young people to register to vote. It had popular artists encouraging people to vote. This year they worked with Foot Locker to encourage voter registration at the stores.
Today there were a lot of celebrities encouraging people to vote. There was this Facebook Vote-a-Thon with celebrities like Will Smith and Alicia Keys.
Michelle Obama did something called a Get Ready & Register Instagram Takeover. She had live conversations with celebrities like Zendaya and Jennifer Lopez.
