We saw a link that said the University of California, Berkeley has a course called "Science of Happiness."

The article says the course talks about the science of "what does it mean to be happy." The class is free online.

The video about the class was pretty interesting.

The teacher said he's asked his students if they had a machine that could make them happy just by pushing a button, would they push the button. He said most of their students said no because they would want to find real happiness on their own. The course talks about scientists research on how to find happiness.

They said that about 40% of happiness is because of things we do so we have control over our happiness. Some of the topics they talk about are, how writing down what you're grateful for can help your immune system and help you sleep, how meditation can help your brain, and why spending money on others is better for you than spending money on yourself.

It would be pretty nice if you could really have control over your own happiness.

My mom told me about a country that makes happiness one of their main goals. The country of Bhutan has something call the Gross National Happiness. It's used to measure the happiness and well-being of the country. The following video explains it better but I think the idea is a country's success should also be measured by how happy its citizens are.
