2020 is the 75th anniversary of the United Nations. October 24 has been celebrated as United Nations Day since 1948. It marks the day the UN Charter was formally accepted. The UN Charter maps out the purpose and the structure of the United Nations.

What does the United Nations do? This is what their website said.
"Due to the powers vested in its Charter and its unique international character, the United Nations can take action on the issues confronting humanity in the 21st century, such as peace and security, climate change, sustainable development, human rights, disarmament, terrorism, humanitarian and health emergencies, gender equality, governance, food production, and more."
If you go to the United Nations website, it had a lot of cool information.
They had this pretty dramatic reading of the preamble to the Charter of the United Nations.
The also had a virtual concert celebrating the day with music from all over the world.
What was also pretty cool was that various place across Europe color their building with blue light in celebration of UN Day.
