Today is World Numbat Day. What's a Numbat?

According to The Project Numbat website:
"The Numbat, also called the banded anteater, is a small endangered marsupial animal native to parts of Australia. They have a long sticky tongue that allows them pick up termites, which they eat exclusively."
The website also says it's about 20 to 29 centimeters long and weigh between 478g to 597g.
According to the World Wildlife Foundation, numbats are considered endangered. There are less than 1,000 numbats in the wild. It's biggest threats are introduced animals, fire and tree clearing.

Feral cats and foxes are their biggest threats.
The are many groups in Australia are working to save the numbats.
