Today is World Ocean Day. The United Nations website says, "Every 8 June, we have an opportunity to raise global awareness of the benefits humankind derives from the ocean and our individual and collective duty to use its resources sustainably. Future generations will also depend on the ocean for their livelihoods!"
The United Nations website had a nice link to "Ocean-Inspired Curriculum for Students/Parents/Teachers." I'm always trying to find arts and crafts lessons. Luckily there was one. It's was from the World Wildlife Fund. It had instructions on how to make origami animals. So in honor of World Oceans Day, I made an origami dolphin, whale, shark, turtle and penguin.

Some the instructions were a little hard to understand. We tried to look up video to see how it was supposed to be folded. We did find videos from the World Wildlife Fund that matched the origami but instead of showing step by step how to make the origami, it gave us facts about the animal. Not helpful but still cool. Here's the video about sharks.
We also found the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration website. It has a really nice infographic showing why the ocean is important.
